Pre-kindergarten 4 – Jo Robinson & Susan Meyer
The Pre-k classes enjoy participating and observing language experience charts. The charts teach the children that what we say can be written and what is written can be read. During Lutheran Schools Week, we charted our "likes" about our school. We have also charted where we would fly if we were a kite.
We cut out a large Y out of construction paper and glued yellow items on it to remind us that the word yellow begins with the letter Y. Yes, language even takes us to the art table. Our vocabularies grow weekly as we learn many new words. We are growing in many ways with Jesus’ help and love.
Kindergarten – Cathy Huff
Hurray for spring! We are excited to be outside enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. We are also excited because we know all of the letters of the alphabet! We are ready to learn different combinations of letters called digraphs and combinations. The phonics rules make reading and spelling so much easier. Watch for our sentences and stories in the hallway.
Grade 1 – Linda Boyer
Language time means get ready to sing. Our Language series uses “jingles” to help teach the parts of speech. First graders know about nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and the object of a preposition. Learning all those words makes sense as now they are getting ready to write. As first graders write an expository paragraph they will put all those jingles to work. With the imaginations that six year olds have you can bet those stories will be fun to read!
Grade 2 – Miranda Miller
